Description
"Hoodoo" you love?
Goblin Valley State Park, Utah.
As I stood in the alien landscape, I'm surrounded by a sea of hoodoos, their rounded shapes rising from the desert floor like ancient sentinels.
The light dances across them, highlighting the intricate textures carved by wind, water, and frost over millions of years.
Behind the hoodoos, the Curtis Formation rises, its pale layers peeking over the tops like a watchful presence.
The contrast between the vibrant reds and oranges of the Entrada Sandstone and the muted white tones of the Curtis is striking.
The topography was once part of an ancient sea, its ripple-marked surfaces telling stories of a long-forgotten past.
I adjusted my lens to capture the scene: the hoodoos in the foreground and the Curtis Formation looming in the background with sunlight accentuates the textures of the rocks—the smooth curves and jagged fractures that show their ongoing transformation.
As I take the photo, I feel a connection to this place.
Each layer tells a story: ancient tidal flats that became stone, uplifted and carved by nature's relentless forces.
The hoodoos stand resolute, shaped by history yet ever-changing—a testament to nature's enduring power.
The image captures more than just a landscape; it preserves a moment in a narrative spanning millions of years.
I hope you love it and that a copy hangs on your wall some day!
