ASSIMILATION

“Assimilation” explores the tension between individuality and conformity — the ways our identities shift and stretch as we absorb, adapt, and blend into new environments. This piece was deeply inspired by our own move to a new community and the slow, sometimes awkward process of settling in: getting to know new neighbors, finding a rhythm in unfamiliar surroundings, and learning how to belong while still staying true to who we are.

In this 24×48 abstract, layered forms and interwoven marks create a visual dialogue between unity and fragmentation. The elongated format amplifies the sense of movement and transition, pulling the viewer into its evolving rhythm. Both bold and contemplative, Assimilation is an invitation to reflect on that delicate balance — the push and pull between holding onto oneself and becoming part of something larger.
